SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES

An innovate project that will break new ground to develop the health of the economy and the standard of life in Gwynedd rural communities. The project will provide intense support for five communities to pilot within the county to:-

  • Host an audit of physical, natural and cultural assets
  • Bursary worth £3,500 (@100%) for the 5 Communities to commission a feasibility study
  • Support to develop ideas
  • Financial support (maximum of £80,000 @ 80% for each community) to operate the ideas

The aim of the project is to develop projects to increase the long term sustainability of their area by increasing the ability of local people to continue to live and work in the area through, for example; sharing community assets, discover new methods of developing services, develop local work opportunities, and so on.

5 SUCCESSFUL COMMUNITIES

Five of Gwynedd’s rural communities have been successful in receiving support through the Sustainable Communities project in order to develop community ventures which will ensure new opportunities and services for local people. The five communities selected are:-

  • Felinheli (Please note that this community has decided not to continue with the project)
  • Dyffryn Ogwen
  • Botwnnog
  • Penllyn Partnership
  • Dinas Mawddwy
